Multi-roof solar & Sigenergy battery installation
A complete home-energy system designed around the fragmented roof space and electrical constraints of a South West London property.

Project overview
This Southfields project is exactly the type of installation that demonstrates why London solar needs proper design. The property did not present one simple, uninterrupted south-facing roof. Instead, the usable solar area was distributed across several roof sections and orientations.
Switched On London designed the solar array around those available spaces and integrated it with a Sigenergy SigenStor battery system and Sigen Energy Gateway, creating one connected home-energy installation.

Making a London roof work harder.
The available roof space was split across different levels and orientations, with the normal constraints of a developed London property. Rather than treating the smaller roof areas as unusable, the design considered the property as a whole.

The array was distributed across the usable roof sections to maximise practical generation while keeping the electrical design, string configuration and equipment limitations in mind. The battery and energy-management system were then sized and configured around the home's generation and consumption requirements.


Sigenergy SigenStor
Solar generation meets intelligent storage.
The installation uses Sigenergy SigenStor, integrating the solar energy controller and modular battery storage within one home-energy ecosystem. Sigenergy's current SigenStor platform supports modular battery configurations and is designed to work with the Sigen Energy Gateway for compatible backup arrangements.
For this project, the equipment gives the homeowner a central platform for solar generation, battery storage and energy monitoring rather than treating each element as a separate installation.
LONDON HOMES
Designed for London roofs.
London homes rarely provide one enormous, unobstructed south-facing roof. Victorian and Edwardian properties frequently include extensions, dormers, rooflights, chimney stacks, flat roofs, different orientations and shading from neighbouring buildings. That is not necessarily a problem - it simply means the system must be designed around the property.
FLAT ROOFS
Purpose-designed mounting systems can make otherwise unused roof space productive.
MULTIPLE ORIENTATIONS
East, west and south-facing roof areas can sometimes be combined within an appropriately designed system.
COMPLEX LONDON PROPERTIES
Rooflights, extensions, limited plant space and cable routes are considered as part of the initial design.

Electrical workmanship
The part of solar installations customers don't always see.
The project included the associated AC and DC electrical work needed to integrate the renewable-energy equipment safely into the property. Switched On London's approach is to treat the installation as a complete electrical system: cable management, isolation, protection, earthing, equipment location, testing and commissioning all form part of the finished job.
